4 years post their critically-acclaimed debut EXITS, alt-rock phenomenon The Boxer Rebellion self-released UNION digitally while still in day jobs. Recipient of the first global iTunes Single of the Week, lead track ‘Evacuate’ generated a staggering 560,000 free downloads, propelling UNION to No. 1 on the iTunes Alt. Album Chart; Top 5 iTunes US and UK Albums; and 82 on the Billboard 200 in its first week! By the end of 2009, iTunes hailed UNION their ‘Alternative Album of the Year.’ All the while the band were, and remain, independent and ‘unsigned’.

Their relentless journey continued as The Boxer Rebellion hit the big screen, appearing and performing in a major motion picture. The Nanette Burstein-directed “Going the Distance” stars Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, and Christina Applegate. Released by New Line Cinema, the film was released internationally, and hit over 3,000 screens in the US on September 3rd.

Known for their exhilarating and uncompromising live performances, TBR were invited to play 6 over-capacity gigs at this year’s SXSW generating coverage from the likes of AOL, The New York Times, Live Daily, Nylon, Paste, Filter, Spin.com, LP33.tv, PopMatters, Live4Ever, Popwreckoning, The Austin Chronicle, Shockhound, and The Wall Street Journal’s much-heeded Jim Fussili, who wrote, “this band may own 2011.” Their long-awaited North American Tour kicks off on September 21st.

Hailed by music blogs and industry pundits as a band spearheading a wholly independent and innovative approach to releasing records, their as-yet-untitled 3rd studio album, produced by Ethan Johns, will be released in early 2011.

The Boxer Rebellion are Tennessee-native Nathan Nicholson, Australian guitarist Todd Howe, and Englishmen Adam Harrison and Piers Hewitt. They are based in London, England.
