Florian "the" Fritsch, (voc, guit, harp, mand) Songwriter of the Berlin group SongDogs, born on July 19th, 1971 in Darmstadt (Hesse). Moving to Berlin at the age of one. Child of divorce at the age of eight. First poems at twelve and first guitar at the age of thirteen. First cigarette at the age of fifteen. Leaving home with eighteen. High school drop-out. Working for the ZDF Studio Berlin. Going back to school and graduation in 1993. Founding Maudlin Braggart in 1994. Educated as assistant accountant (1997), civilian Service (1998). Breaking-up Maudlin Braggart and foundation of the SongDogs (1996). Meeting the woman of his life. Has to earn money since than plus much more music.With the SongDogs, without the SongDogs, together and alone. Again and again gigs at the Go In, Flöz, Acud, Wild at Heart, Knaack, Rickenbacker's, ColumbiaFritz and Tacheles. Guitar and notebook at all times & tons of songs in mind.
In between and since then countless fights, more defeats than victories. But losses write the best songs. Always searching for the version and the song for the pain and the love, the fear and the hope, the loss and the win. Bound to the idea and the form always follows the idea. "And even if Fritsch says: "Our aim is not to bring out all virtuosity, the idea of the song got to be in the spotlight", one don't notice a possibly lack of artistry."
