La Cédille…a warm bass, efficient drums, a guitar, a trombone, an alto saxophone and 2 mc`s serving hip
hop since 1997. Although its members come from various backgrounds (jazz, funk, hip-hop, salsa), this French band (Besancon) offers an entire creation they call «instantaneous hip hop». With more than a hundred desperately optimistic compositions, La Cédille’s speech is pastoral and urban at the same time. On stage, La Cédille presents a dynamic and intimate show where each character has the front role (horns don’t hesitate to take the mic to throw their lyrics!). This band is a « free » group in a music style that has often been created with machine. With «Vu Du Large» recorded in the UK, the band now travels all around the world (France, Canada, UK, Czech Republic etc...). La Cédille occupies a musical scene that was missing in France and which exists in the Anglo-Saxon world with bands like The Roots or Opus Akoben.



DISTINCTIONS
Over the years, La Cedille won several distinctions such as « FAIR 2006 Prize-winner (France, http://www.lefair.org), was nominated as French Talent by the Music Week Magazine (2004, England)), and « Découverte Franche Comté » at the Printemps de Bourges 2001 (France).

After having met Pat Fulgoni, (singer of the band Kava Kava and founder of the independent English label Chocolate Fireguard Music) at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, a first tour in the UK with 10 concert dates in March 2001 took place – in clubs as prestigious as the Moles Club in Bath, the Toucan Club in Cardiff, the Ponana`s in Oxford or the Hifi Club in Leeds. Since then, the success has brought the band across the Channel for more than sixty gigs from Southampton to Manchester, Newquay, Nottingham and London.
