Die Band „Arschrock“
eine Kurzinfo

Die Band „Arschrock“ wurde ursprünglich im September 2008 in Langenfeld gegründet. Langenfeld liegt zwischen Düsseldorf und Köln. Die Gründungsmitglieder, Marius, Hofi und Bommel, spielten vorher schon in einer anderen Formation zusammen. Aus der Zeit stammen auch einige, von Marius geschriebene Texte, die jedoch bis dahin nie eingespielt wurden.

Die Gründungsmitglieder, zwei Gitarristen und eine Sängerin, beschlossen, mit der neuen Band Musik zu spielen, die in Richtung Punk geht und dabei nur eigene Texte zu verwen-den. Musikalisch dazu fehlten ein Bassist und ein Schlagzeuger. Letzterer wurde in Per-son von Bommel’s Bruder schnell gefunden. Die Suche nach einem Bassisten war dagegen schon schwieriger. Zu der Zeit absolvierte Alex seinen Zivildienst in dem Jugendhaus, in dem sich auch der Proberaum der Band befand. Wie es der glückliche Zufall wollte, spiel-te er Bass und war bereit, in der Band mitzuspielen.

Während der sich anschließenden Proben kam schnell die Erkenntnis, dass die personelle Besetzung alles andere als optimal war und auf Dauer mit erheblichen Problemen behaf-tet sein würde. Nach intensiven Überlegungen verließ der bisherige Schlagzeuger die Band und Herr Kaiser stieg im Januar 2009 nahtlos an seine Stelle ein. Von da an ent-stand eine völlig neue Spiellaune. Viele neue Songs wurden eingespielt und alte Songs so umgearbeitet, dass sich alle mit dem Ergebnis identifizieren konnten. Es ging aufwärts.

Das Jahr 2009 wird von der Band nun eigentlich als das tatsächliche Gründungsjahr an-gesehen, zumal in diesem Jahr auch viele Projekte verwirklicht werden konnten. Allein in der Zeit von März bis Dezember wurden acht Konzerte in Langenfeld und Umgebung entweder allein oder auch schon mit namhafteren Bands wie dem „Berlin Boom Orchest-ra“ gespielt. Die Aufnahme einer Demo-CD in Eigenregie im Proberaum war ein weiteres erfolgreiches Projekt, das verwirklicht werden konnte.

Das Jahr 2010 schließt sich nahtlos an das erfolgreiche vorangegangene Jahr an. Bisher sind weitere vier Konzerte zu verzeichnen, die unter anderem mit „Massendefekt“, „Sta-ke Out“ oder „Shy Guy at the Show“ stattfanden. Beim „Emergenza-Festival“ im Kölner „Underground“ konnte die Vorrunde als beste Band gewonnen werden. Dies sicherte die Teilnahme am Semifinale, das im Kölner „Luxor“ stattfinden wird. Insgesamt sind derzeit fünf Konzerte fest geplant, die im Mai/Juni stattfinden werden.

Der Fankreis wuchs bei jedem Konzert und die örtliche Presse hat schon mehrfach über die Konzerte und den Werdegang der Band berichtet. Der übereinstimmende Tenor bei Fans und Medien lautet, dass die 5 aus Langenfeld live zu überzeugen wissen, weil sie durch eine Mischung aus Punk, Funpunk und Komik bestechen. Gerade diese Mischung kam bis jetzt beim Publikum immer sehr gut an. Eine Band, die man einfach live erleben muss.

Arschrock – CV - „How the nightmare started..“

How everythings started…..
There was a time, when two couples asked Marius, if he and his band could play some songs at their marriage. First, Marius refused this offer, saying that that his band is no longer existing and the kind of music was not his favourite one. This answer was not really accepted, so Marius contacted his old mates Bommel and Dominik. These guys were interested and even brought in a new Drummer: This was how Dalle entered the band.

At the beginning, no one was really sure if the experiment could be successful. After some lousy ses-sions they came to the conclusion, that there was no chance to be as good as before. Marius would have liked to cancel the whole project. He thought that perhaps he could play some songs alone on stage with his acoustic guitar. No problem so far concerning playing guitar, but what about the vocals?

The band shared his opinion and so they found Hofi for vocals. But was there a chance with a girl in a band with only boys?

Now the team was Marius (guitar and still vocals), Dominik (Bass and some vocals), Hofi (only vocals), Bommel (only guitar) and Dalle (he was really busy with playing drums). The doubts concerning the girl a in a boy group where gone faster than Dalle was able to  play the rhythm, because she was a tough and straight young lady.

Searching for new sounds and songs in the session room, thinking they were a punk band that could also play on a wedding. Because wedding and punkrock is something very contrary, it was hard to find something that would fit. So they played like “punkrock is, if you don’t care about the reaction of oth-ers…”. Coversongs of well-known bands were practised….

The coversongs were performed on the wedding, thinking that this concert was not  the best possible result. So the guys listed this gig in a row of older concerts…when the music was so bad, that no one came to the idea, to scream “Zugabe”… But the audience, including the couples, where extremely positive and overwhelmed by the band. It was not easy for the band to handle this reaction…

The gig was recorded altough all of them thought it would be better if no one can see this perform-ance…
When looking at the recordings, it was seen that – in their opinion – the best song was not on tape. So they decided to do a professional recording of this song (a tribute to a closed friend named Rüdiger). The recording of “Potent, willig & solo” was finished…nowerdays played in the local bars as a fix part on the DJ-list.

Early past..
The result of the recordings at the HOFA-Studios was the first CD titled „Wedding Crash Tour“ – with a professional layouted cover. I addition to this, the ways of Marius and Dominik went different directions – saying his job was very time consuming, Dominik wanted a break for 2 months. Dalle also left the band, because he didn’t want to go on without Dominik.
Marius, Hofi and Bommel didn’ know how to continue….requests for concerts were coming daily, and the first single was launching to a local hit…but a band without drums an bass is no band…

How to go on…
Bommel arrived one day together with his brother Jens, from now on called “Bimmel”, who should play drums. The band experimented a lot in thes days and also confirmed the participation at a local con-cert  - which was a little bit overestimated. Three months were left, to create a complete set for the X-Mas-Rock 2008 – without a bass player. Marius and Hofi received a hint from some colleagues…the guy was doing his civil service an had some experience in playing bass..after a short conversation via sms, Alex entered the band.

A band again…
So  the local heroes started again: Marius (Guitars, screaming), Hofi (vocals and eggs), Bommel (gui-tars) and the two “new-entrys” Alex (Bass, percussion, vocals) and Bimmel (drums, nag)

With a new motivation the five knights created a complete set. Marius wrote some songs with the de-vice “quality follows quantity”. Alex was really surprised of the bass guitar having 4  strings and fell in love with them. Bommel created music for the songs and Bimmel tried to drum without any feeling for rythms. What about Hofi…she was sitting around, smoking one cigarette after the other, always say-ing: “Everything sounds the same!!!” or “I’m not able to sing to this song”..

In these times with a very enthousiastic mood Hofi appeared one day with a text saying” Hey boss, please make some music to this text” Everyboday was a little sceptic…but this song also entered the set with the title “Scheiss-Tag”.

The X-Mas Rock concert came closer and everyone was getting more and more nervous. What if all would think that the music sucks? The point of no return was reached, and together with the band 200 people found the way to the concert location. Playing as second band after the opener, the band played all or nothing on this evening.

The concert was great: 200 people jumping, dancing and singing..Marius and Alex were supported with a lot of beer from their new fans. When doing pogo, one of the fans fell into the drums…
All in all a fantastic evening, which will always be remembered..

At the beginning of 2009 Bimmel left the band and Martin came into the band as the new drummer. Martin, from now on called “Herr Kaiser”, is not only able to play drums well, he also tall and beautiful. All in all an enrichment for the band. Together with him, the band discovered a new mood of making music. Looking forward to the next gig, there were only 2 months remaining, to train the songs with Martin. But the next concert at Rock AG in Langenfeld became a great success, the audience was dancing and jumping again, enjoying the songs of Arschrock. Also a little bit self-confident the band realised, that not only the first hit “Potent, willig & solo” was sang together with the audience.

What is left to say?!
No one knows what will happen in the future and where the band will be in the next years. Will they become rockstars? Or is this target destroyed, because the guys are taking them-selves not serious enough?
We will see…
